We’re Hannah and Jake—a couple who collects Pokémon cards, based in Halifax, Nova Scotia. We started The Moonlit Holo out of a shared love for the hobby.

Like many collectors, we were having a hard time getting our hands on English Pokémon products—stock is low, prices are high, and restocks are unpredictable. Out of curiosity, we picked up Gem Box Vol. 1 and opened our first Simplified Chinese Pokémon cards—and we were instantly hooked. There was something exciting about seeing familiar cards in a different language, and with one guaranteed hit per box, it made the experience even more rewarding. 

After successfully selling a few cases on Facebook Marketplace, we realized there was real local demand for Simplified Chinese cards here in Halifax. That experience showed us there was a gap in the local market—and gave us the push to start something of our own.

That moment sparked the idea for The Moonlit Holo—a shop focused on offering Simplified Chinese, Japanese and English sealed products and singles for collectors.
